Bike Route to South Carolina

I’ve wanted to do a cross country bike trip for years. After so much anticipation I can’t believe I’m finally leaving next week.

After learning from my trek to Mexico, I’ve spent hours dubiously researching my bike route east. Trying to avoid major highways and most importantly mountainous terrain which can be double or triple the time of a flat road.

Click here for an interactive map. Beginning here in Cortez, Colorado and riding to Charleston, S. Carolina, the route covers over 2300 miles. Add a 10% deviant- due to inevitable course changes- and I’ll be pedaling close to 2500 miles.

My route has several points of interest, most notably the Georgia Guidestones in Elberton, Ga. To keep things interesting, I'm looking for things to see. If you know of any thing like a good burger stop, or America's biggest ball of yarn, or even an interesting gas station, etc. Please leave me a comment. I'd love to make a stop and post pics.
